No, you pretty much had the same reactions as I have the few times I used a decoy. I think decoys pretty much alarm the deer more than it calms or brings them in.....The only place I think they do any good is in open country to bring in animals from a distance to within bow range...in close areas, they only spook them after the deer learn decoys don't move.

The first time I used a decoy, I had a doe come in and spot it. She started stampin, blowing, and jumpin back & forth. She did this for 15 minutes while completely circling the decoy in the thick stuff. The second time I used it, I changed the set up so if it happened again I'd have a shot at the deer circling. In other words - set up further away from decoy. In any event I had deer see it and ignore it. Haven't hunted with one since. Maybe i'll try again this year, since i'll be hunting farm land as opposed to thick woods.
