RE: Would appreciate your opinion....
IMO I dont' think the gutpile matters one iota! I can't count how many times I've had deer walk right to me while in the process of field dressing another deer. I could be wrong, but in my personal experiences I don't think the smell of deer guts bothers them. I've seen deer the next night from the same stand after field dressing one close by.
I'd be more concerned about your stinky friend and if he actually spooked anything during his ordeal with his doe. I'd give it the normal rest you usually give to not overhunt the same stand, but wouldn't give it any xtra because another guy shot a deer from it.

I've never seen a gut pile the next day. They have valways been gone.
However a funny story. A friend of a friend was hunting last year and slip into the woods early in the morning about 1 hour before sun up. It was his spot. He heard some noise and shined his flash light, a racoon. A little while later he heard some more noise and did it again, a fox. Then just before light some more noise and another racoon. The whole time he heard noises but couldn't see what was happening. After it got light out, he noticed a little bit of a gut pile and tampoons hanging in a tree. Either some gal had major problems in the middle of no where or someone else found his spot.

Some guys use tampons for there lure hangers.....kinda gross, but, they probably work pretty good.
Sounds like your buddy's spot was being shared by someone else who didn't have permission?
