Hey... sometimes they just do crazy things folks. I had a very similiar night in Ohio 2 years ago. I had forgotten my scent things and wicks and all that, but I had a bottle of Kischels Doe in Heat stuff. I grabbed a paper towel and took it to the woods, kind of wrapped it around a little stick and set it out in the field 30 yards in front of. I had 3 bucks come in. Everyone of them went straight to the paper towel and started pawing the ground and licking the paper towel. The two smaller ones started sparing and shoving. The bigger of those two finally chased the smaller one off and chased after him. The bigger one of the three finished his turn at the paper towel and tore off chasing the other two. I was in a ditch at the end of a field in a hasty ground blind. I had them all at 12 yards at one time. What a trip. Not saying it was necessarily the Kischels, but they were just ready. Of course, that trip was closer to the rut. I was there the week of Nov 10 or 11.

You guys are nuts if you believe this ring a round the rosie with a buck. Its not even rut yet what the heck are you thinking.
Bucks are ready to bread as soon as they shed thier velvet, all they need is a doe to come in season or just think one is and he will respond.

I had one grunting at me on the way out of the woods in the dark last night. It sounded like he was walking parallel to me about 20 yards away and his grunts were the aggresive grunts so I dont doubt your story. I'll never forget my flashlight in the truck again!

The guys name is Roger Raglin, not Ray Raglin. I can believe the story, a friend of mine has a deer farm. During the rut the deer are extremely dangerous. He had one pin him up against the barn with an antler stuck in two belt loops. He had to punch is way out. Then go for stitches. They are a wild animal and unpredictable. You shoulda shot him, especially in PA. This aint Illinois.

Been reading this thread for a while and just couldn't stand it any longer...I don't believe it. I don't doubt that something weird happened, but it's been blown out of proportion. If it did happen like it was posted, there was more going on than a Wal-Mart scent.

There was a report some years back about a guy that was riding his mountain bike down a dirt road in November. He passed a buck on the fringe of the road and the buck charged him and knocked him off his bike. He got the buck in a leglock around the bucks neck and held his horns. He laid there for quite awhile, afraid to let go. Eventually someone came by and they released the buck and the incident ended. You never believe it till it happens to you. Most times they won't touch you, only come real close, but they are unpredictable at this time of the year.
