Default First blood

Went out for the opener on Saturday. My son, 10 yrs old, shot his first deer with a bow. Ten+ yard shot, hit a little back in ribs, went forty yards or so and died. A shame he had to pass the spike standing next to the one he shot but in NJ, we have to earn a buck.[:'(]

What was really cool, we got a double. We were in a double ladder stand and the deer with the one my son shot came back by at 30+- yards and I was able to collect my doe also. What a cool start. Opening day and a double by 8:30. Later my son said, I guess all that practice paid off! I just smiled.

Told everyone I could find around home. So you guys are next.

OOOOooooooooooooooooooohhhh MAN!!!! Am I jealous! I can't wait until an opportunity like that for my kids. My little girl is 3-1/2, and is razzing me daily to take her to, "Go and get some deers!" My 2yo son isn't as excited about it as her, but dinosaurs, and Scooby Doo won't last forever.LOL! Sincere Congradulations to you and your boy, I hope you have tons of more days like that in the future.

Congrats to your son and youself. I've been hunting for 16 years and have still yet to double with my father. Now you've both got the does out of the way it's time for some buck hunting.

If you've got a pic I'd love to see it. There is nothing better then silver dollar sized eye on a young hunter after a first kill.

Congrats! I was able to film my son taking his first deer last year. I could watch that video over and over - the look on his face. . .
