Default Thinsulate temperature ranges in boots?

Hi all, I'm looking to buy a good pair of insulated hunting boots, which there seems to be no end of, and I would like to use them from September through December.

My temps here in SE Nebraska range from mid 80's in September to low 20's in November and December (some days are colder, but on average).

Would the 400 gram thinsulate boots be adequate in these ranges, if I wore a lightweight sock in September and a warmer sock in November and December?

Thanks.

I hate to say it but when it comes to boots I'm worse than women and shoes. I can't wear 400's when its above 60 degrees, way to hot. Would not wear anything under 800's when it's below 30 degrees. A pair of boots will not be comfortable when you buy them to fit with three pair of socks on then you go with only one. I've bought quality boots over the years. Might only wear a certain pair a few times a season. I have 5 year old boots that are still like new. Their always ready for that certain situation.

My favorite all around hunting boot has been my wolverine King Caribou boots. This will be my third season with them and i have NO complaints. Theyre 800 grams thinsulate, and i wear them from opening day all the way through goose season in february. They can get a little warm in early season, but ive never been uncomfortable. Extremely waterproof, great lookin camo, well built, stood up to everything ive put them through. So, i dont think you can go wrong with anything about 600 to 800, but im one of those people that wants to be toasty warm on stand, not just having to tolerate a little cold.

I have to agree with OHBowhunter... You can't have 1 pair of boots for that big range of temperature...

I have 2 pairs:
1 pair of Irish Setter Deer Slayers 800g in 8" for cold weather
I use these for colder weather big game hunting and ice fishing.

1 pair of Rocky uninsulated Stalker extreme in 8" for warm weather
I use these for early season big game hunting and all year round for upland and small game when i do alot of walking.

I live in Michigan where the temps can get a bit colder than you mentioned up north. These two pair work great for me...

Good Luck.

I have footwear ranging from an uninsulated athletic shoe style for warm temps to some 1,000 gram Thinsulate heavy boots for colder temps . I hate cold feet !
