Default Bowtech Wheels and Cams

I am looking into a Bowtech bow and was wondering what the pros and cons are of Wheels vs. Cams and I know on some bows there are single or dual cams?

Wheels
1. Easy to draw
2. Slowest configuration
3. Easy to tune

Dual Cams
1. Hard draw
2. Fastest Configuration
3. Must be timed for optimal performance

Single Cams
1. Moderate to easy draw cycle - Liberty is touted as having an extremely smooth draw
2. Moderate speed
3. No need to synchronize the wheel and the cam, but the cam has a timing setting in relation to the limb that should be maintained for best performance
4. A nice combination of the benefits of wheels and cams

Thank you for the great list of differences. I guess the liberty is a good all around bow?

The Liberty and the Patriot seem to be a dead even choice for those who use a single bow for 3D and hunting. I personally went with the Patriot, but be sure to check them both out.

Actually my intentions with a new bow are to hunt and shoot 3D in a local friendly club. What are the differences between the Bowtech Liberty and Patriot? If I remember they both come in single cam? The only other bow that I am considerins is the Mathews Outback.

The Patriot is faster with a slightly harder draw cycle........but barely noticable as far as I was concerned. I think the Patriot has a very slightly shorter brace height, but again, it's close. The Patriot is also shorter in length by a decent bit. The ATA's (axle to axle) are close, but you've got to consider the larger wheel and cam on the Liberty for overall length.

My main activity is hunting, so the Patriot fit the bill a little better.

i had a 70lb 2003 patriot and traded for 2004 80 lb liberty. the liberty at 80# is just as easy to draw back as the pat. and it is quieter and faster.to me it shoots alot better and more accurate. i rigged it upwith the same options as the pat.

What type of options did you put on this bow?

I've been playing around with a Wheely lately, and I'm thoroughly impressed. Very smooth shooting, quiet, pretty fast. Through a chrono last night: 60#, 306 gr, 29" went 297. Same specs with 378 gr arrow, 271. The Liberty at 70# is close to the same speed with the 378 gr arrow (maybe a bit faster?, not chrono'd). The Liberty is quieter, and has less recoil/vibration, though the difference is very slight. If you want a good 3D/hunting bow, the Patriot single is a very good choice. If you want something a little longer, the Wheely would fill the bill.
