Default yardage with a new bow..???

I recently bought a new HOYT ULTRAMAG and as I'm fine tuning everything in on it, I've found while shooting on level ground that I can use my 10 yard pin all the way back to 40 yards.. Is this normal?? I am using carbon arrows, and pulling 311 fps... I am thinking it is because the arrow is moving at such a good pace.. Any answers would be greatly appreciated... The bow is set at 71lbs. and a 30 1/2 draw length...

I've shot bows at 300plus fps and you cannnot use one pin DEAD ON out to 40 yards. You need to hold high and low depending.....is that what your doing?

You might be dead on at 10 & 40 but I'd think you'ld be way high at 25 or 30, like a foot or 8".

Well...it doesn't sound too normal! Never heard of anything like that, even thouhg you do have a really fast arrow. What do you mean by you can use your 10 yard pin to 40 yards? You arrow has to wander off the point of aim somewhat by that point.
If I had a .22 long rifle slug moving at 1100 FPS, and I sighted it in at 10 yards, it wouldn't be on target anywhere from 10 to 40 yards out, and that bullet has a little flatter trajectory than your arrow does.

I'm sure you're got one flat shootin machine, but being right on from 10 to 40 yards with the same pin is pretty tough to swallow.

What kind of sight are you using? when i hunted with a regular sight i had to have a pin for every 5 yrds or so. but now i use a pendulum and its good out to 30 with just one pin.

my bow shoots 308 fps and I sight my bow in at 30yrds... it's about 1" high at 20yrds... and about 3" low at 40yrds...

I've heard several people try to say that they have 1 pin out to 40yrds... and it's just not true.. no matter how fast your bow is.

I'll jump on board too............I have heard these claims from people shooting as low as 290-295 fps ! [8D]

I used to have a 303 fps set up with a single 20 yrd pin............and yes.......I could shoot it to 40 yrds !!

But in reality........it hit about a 1"-1.5" high at 10 yrds and dropped about 6" or so at 40 !! Even at 30 yrds it had dropped 2.5" or so ! I called it a one pin set up to 30 yrds.........but I had to compensate a little to be dead on !!

Sorry Kev, but I'm with the rest of the crowd. I been shooting compounds 30 years now and there ain't one made that shoots dead-on all the way to 40 yards. If it did then nobody else could sell bows.
