He gave me goosebumps...
I have been on vacation for the last week and got home wanting to get out and scout a little. I first went back checking the neighbor's mowed oats for coyotes. It was getting pretty dark but i decided to go looking for deer in our field. As soon as i got within 500 yards of our line fence i saw a deer silhoutted on the horizon line in the neighbors field. I found it in the 10X50's and i thought it was a buck. So i decided to get closer. I checked again. I could now see that this buck was HUGE. He was facing away from me and his rack stuck out the side. I got to within 40 yards of him, watching the wind all the way, and my heart skipped a beat. He's a PERFECT 10 point, 20-22 inches inside, decent mass, probably 3 1/2 or 4 1/2 years old. he turned sideways and both sides of his rack matched perfectly. I didnt try and get any closer because i didnt want to bump him or any other deer in the field. He's probably at least high 140's maybe mid 150's. An absolute dandy. im heading down to the neighbors house to ask if i can bowhunt their land. Any tips for asking permission? i've never asked before, as we have alot of land elsewhere.thanks

It was getting pretty dark but you managed to cover 460 yards and stalk within 40 yards with out spooking him before light faded???
Thats nearly a 1/3 of a mile. Thats some fast stalking

no im just making it all up. it was 845 in the evening, he was 400-500 yards away, and i had trees blocking his view so i could walk fairly quick on our field road. not too tough to do. once i got to the fence i peeked over and glassd him for a minute and walked back to the house. what, is there something controversial about me covering 400 yards with fading light? with the 10X50's i could barely make his rack out at 400-500 yards so i moved closer and then closer again from about 200 yards out.
