How important is the process of spin testing your arrow with the broadhead you intend to hunt with?

I purchased the Red Head Carbon Maxx, which are reportedly made by Carbon Express and are advertised to have straightness of .002 and w/in 1 grain of each other. Last year, I spun tested all my Bemans and ended up with 3-4 out of the dozen that were perfect. They became my hunting arrows. This year, I went for the lighter, faster and straighter arrows by Red Head and I only got one of them to spin true. I used the same broadhead used on my Beman, which still spins true.

If you tell me itt is very important to get the Red Heads spinning true, I need to buy new arrows or see if Bass Pro will take them back, which they might. They aren't wobbling all over the place, but there is a distinct wobble as compared to my Beman. By the way, I am not tuning or adjusting the Muzzy's (three blade, 100 gr) but simply screwing them in until they seat.

I got so technical in my arrows. I broke my spin tester. (Which was a good thing) Now I will just take them out and shoot them. I will pick the 6 that group the best and hunt with them.

I think it's a very good idea to spin test them. If you have an arrow that hits the spot sometimes and sometimes not it may not be you but the arrow. I had one last year like that and after spin testing I found out why. Then you must find out why it's not true. It could be the broadhead, the insert not staight, the arrow not cut true, or arrow not staight.

I spin test each and every arrow I hunt with, that is with the broadhead
attached. I feel it's important for consistant flight. If it wobbles, I don't
use it for hunting.

You DEFINATELY want to spin test all of your arrows with the broadheads on. Wobbly ones may need to have their inserts removed and reinstalled or sometimes just by switching your heads around you can make things right. I use Thunderhead 100's and sometimes, just by replacing the rubber o-rings that does the trick! You must achieve NO WOBBLE AT ALL!!!!!

I spin test them without the broadheads and then with. This way you can tell if the wobble comes from the arrow or the insert. I can tell you from experience that very few broadheads are to blame. And the reason I spin the arrows without the broadheads is I just can't see wasting time to try to align one to a crooked shaft. It ain't gonna work.

DITTO!! I spin test also then shoot groups just to be absolutely sure they will do as I expect them too. I definitely don't want to wound an animal because I wanted to hurry things. I've done that before and had an animal suffer because of not following all the steps and that won't happen again if I can help it!!
