I have participated in the turkey team contest the last couple of years. It is fun to see how everyone is doing.

However, bragging rights bring enough problems to the table, if you add money to the mix, I think it could corrupt the contest. Even with the requirement of pictures (which opens up another can of worms) it is just to easy to deceive in this environment.

Hey ya-all let me know when this thing will start, I am in, I think like others have said you get money involved and things can get a little crazy, lets just go with braggin rights. I think that would be just as good. and count on the first buck. Here in NY we get at least two buck tags, one either sex and then a buck only tag, so we need to be on the honor system. I will help out in any way I can, just let me know what I would need to do. This sounds like fun!

Count me in.

However, I do think does should count. However, I dont think yearlings should count at all. And a mature doe should get nearly as many points as a mature buck. And I dont agree with the first deer you shoot. Its a practice here to whack the first deer that walks by that isnt a yearling to help the herd reduction since we donate the meat. After that, Its purely mature deer hunting. But it definitly sounds fun.

If this is the rule we go by, count me out. I'm sorry, but I find that rather unfair. So you're telling me if we both shoot dinks, and then a week later you happen to come across a monster buck, I'm SOL? That's just not right.

The first buck you take should be the one you enter. Granted, this would have to rely on the honor system.

So, make the call, is it the first buck or can you take multiple deer and enter the biggest? I'll let you all know whether I want in after this is decided.

EDIT - Also, how would you score the does? I understand that the bucks would be total number of inches of antler per team, but what about the does? Weigh them and then subtract a certain number of pounds from them? 50 - 75lbs taken off the does? That's the only way I can see that working.

No Does. That would be totally unfair. I get dozens in front of me every hunt. I just can't see how that would be fair for those who rarely see a deer.

As far as you guys in Florida. Don't worry about it. That's why we have teams.

Are teams of 4 ok with everyone?
