Should I be hunting this scrape?
Should I hunt this scrape that is along a deer trail at the base of a ridge? It is fairly open forest. The trail runs along a swampish area, and has a lot of rubs along it. I've seen a large buck feeding in the field that it leads to, he was feeding in the middle of the day, caused by over-popultion and/or compation for food. Should I apply scents to this scrape?

I agree with Ansel... I'd be looking closer to the swamp and stay away from trying to attract him. More than likely you'll put him on alert and if he thinks you're bigger he'll move. Your problems are going to be catching a constant wind at the base of that ridge. It can be going up one minute, down the next and then sideways. Don't hunt it unless it's steady and favorable. A big old buck like that "MIGHT" be heading into the swamp but he's just as likely to lay part way up that ridge watching the world. If trouble comes he can hit the swamp.
