Backtension in hunting

Backtension in hunting
I have a Scott Caliper release. I was told to use backtension. I tried to do this for a couple of days and it wasn't working. I would get 6" groups at 20 yards. I tried to just squeeze the trigger and got 1" groups at 20 yards. Should I use backtension for hunting? Thanks

Do what works best. Personally, I cannot deal with the back tension, and I do much better squeezing the release.
I'm assuming by back tension that you mean holding your release taught and letting go for your arrow to leave your bow. To me this makes for a much more erratic release.

I sort of agree with Pro, Zak. Do what you know you're comfortable doing. There is no set right or wrong way to release your arrow, you just do what you know you can. I tried back tension a while back and didn't like it. I wasn't used to it and I got poor groups. I get good groups when I just squeeze the trigger so that's what I plan on doing.
