Yeah! I can hunt my sisters/bro-in-law farm anytime I want!!!
Hey there....
I got back from a week vacation up in upstate NY. We (wife kids, etc...) visited the wife's family over in Buffalo first, then went to my oldest sister & bro-in-law's new farm over in Brookfield, NY (near Hamilton, south of Utica). Man, they have 125 acres of farmland!!! 8 horses, chickens, roosters, the whole works.
They have hundreds of acres of fields, woods, and trails, which we all explored during the vacation. BEAUTIFUL COUNTRY!!!!
Here's the best news of all: My sister and bro-in-law told me....
anytime I want, I am welcome to bring my bow and hunt deer on their farm!! [8D]
I have to look into an out of state, non-resident bowhunting license for NY, and then I'll be all set. An 8 1/2 hour trip is all I have to drive (zip up I-81 from VA, up through PA, up to Binghamton NY, onto Route 12 north, etc..)
Wow.... I have 125 acres of fields and woods to deer hunt! WOO-HOO!!!!!! [8D][8D][8D]

RE: Yeah! I can hunt my sisters/bro-in-law farm anytime I want!!!
Hey there...
My brother-in-law said the deer are HUGE up there. I saw tons of old rubs in the woods. A lot of deer come right out of the woods in the evenings and feed in the horse pastures. They too know of the electric fences and easily jump right over them (I think electric fences emit a high pitched hum - humans can't hear it though).
Here's a bit of history in case anyone's curious....
Grew up in Poughkeepsie, NY. (Hudson river area, 1.5 - 2 hrs north of NYC).
Relatives still live around the Poughkeepsie area.
I retired from the Coast Guard and settled in Richmond, VA and try
my best to hunt in VA.
Oldest sister/bro-in-law recently retired and bought the huge farm.
After my dad died in 2002, my elderly mom now lives with oldest sister/bro-in-law on the big farm.
I took dozens of pictures of the farm and the land all around. It's beautiful up there! [8D] The town of Brookfield, NY has a population of 273 people!!! Translation: There ain't nothing there. No traffic lights, no nothing. Everyone owns a farm and everyone knows everyone else.
I have to find out more details from my sister and brother-in-law about the land and deer signs, as they ride the trails and work their farmland on a daily basis.
This is like a dream come true!!!!
