Nothin but Balls
Here is a good one! I was out sitting in my favorite "west wind" stand when I spotted 3 deer moving towards me in the picked but not plowed cornfield about 200 yds west of me. As the wind was outta the west, I got down and slowly made my way down the deep drainage ditch that snaked its way thru towards their direction. As I figured I might of gotten close enough(could'nt see over the lip of the ditch), I decided to climb up the ditch-side to see if I actually was close yet. WHOA! Yes I was CLOSE! They were right there in front of me at 30 yds out! I was a bit surprised tho. They were all does and as I did not bring my "binocs" with this trip, I couldn't see them from my stand tree.
Anyway, just as I got a eyeball on 'em after climbing up the ditch bank's edge, one spotted me. "She" decided to come get a closer look at me also. I climb down the ditch bank to get outta sight, thinkin this one is a HUGE doe, and a possible "kill" due to its size...ENORMOUS! It come right up to the "lip" of the top of the ditch. I am just below the level lay of the land in the ditch, at full-draw. As soon as I see the deer's head come over the lip, I straighten up on my knees to allow a vital hit. Release, and off "she" goes-arrow passed thru ribs=dead in 50 yds.
I go over to check "her" out after she drops. To my amazement...she's a HE! NO ANTLERS WHATSOEVER. But a HUGE body! "She ended up weighing in @ 195# field-dressed weight.

FELLAS,
I did not state when, where or whatever else you may want to attempt to implicate with this story.
I am SIMPLY posting a past (years ago) experience I thought would make good reading to the "ethically honest hunter". Try it sometime MQ1! <img src=icon_smile_kisses.gif border=0 align=middle>
