Kentucky and Ohio hunters
I have the opportunity to hunt a friends farm in extreme north Kentucky this season. It is just south of the Cincinnati Ohio. Can anyone tell me when the rut usually takes place in this area or what would be the best time of year to try to hunt up there. Obviously I will be bowhunting, I am not familiar with their regulations or if there is a specific time for bow hunting.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Bowseason runs from 9/4 to like the 3rd weekend in January. You can bowhunt through all the other seasons. Gun season is the 2nd Saturday in November. That's usually right on the beginning of the rut. Some say according tothe lunar cycle it's supposed to hit early this year. Around the end of October.

I would have to agree with my fellow Buckeyes, the second week in November is the best time. Last year the first week of November was warm and the activity was slow to the say the least but set a preliminary date and check the weather. You cant go wrong hunting Ohio. Good luck!

Well if u are hunting kentucky i would reccommend rifle season, but if you have to bowhunt, i would look at tr michels web sit to look at peak rut movement. Rut is a very weird thing, what could be hot at your spot in ohio, you could drive 20minutes across the river and the buck havent even started yet, its kinda funny.its the same with turkeys because i hunt kentucky and ohio every year. I plan on hunting late november but i will do some glassing in early november to make sure nothing is happening too early, then if so ill adjust my schedule to get in the stand.
