Have You Ever Just Had One Of Those Days??
Have you ever just had one of those days when no matter what you do your arrow just doesn't seem to hit where it should? I shot Friday night and shot a 30 yard robin hood so I was feeling pretty good about my set-up and tuning. Then I went back out Saturday and couldn't have hit a moose at 20 yards. I don't know what I was doing differently. Then to ease my mind I shot last night and was right back on target. Does this ever happen to you'all?

I know the feeling. Most of the times when this happens to me(Yes, more than once) it is the result of shooting while tired. Not so much that I'm tired but my mussles are tired. If I do yard work durring the day and then shoot in the evening I shoot like crap. I attribute it to over working the mussles in my backand shoulders that I should shot with and I end up with poor form and using more of my arm mussles. If I take a day off (or don't shoot when tired) I shoot much better.
Could this be the case?

Usually happens to me if I try to shoot too many days in a row. I never used to even shoot in the off season. Then I started this year shooting every day. Started ok then I couldn't hit a thing. Now I just go out 3 or 4 days a week. I do much better now that I take a day off in between.

Last year, opening day of bowseason springs to mind....Practiced hard all summer and then shot my quiver dry (3) in the first hour of daylight. Course, I don't think tired muscles had anything to do with it!

Yup! Been there done that. It was frustrating to go out using the same equipment yet get different results.
Usually if my groups are off I find I have moved my anchor point from one session to he next. It doesn't take much to cause a problem.
Of course there can be other problems too. Certainly a poor release (the mechanics of, not the actual tool) can cause trouble but it is easier to identify than moving your anchor point or touquing the bow.
Obviously we are all endeavoring to perfect our form and do the same thing shot after shot after shot.

Happens to me a few times a year. That's the good thing about this time of year because it's all practice. I usually toss everything back in the case and call it day. Head home and pull out a cold beverage.
