Arrows falling off rest. Why?

RE: Arrows falling off rest. Why?
Besides everything mentioned here, let me give you one more possibility that my help. I have found that sligthly gripping the bow while drawing can be helpful. After you are at or near full draw, then relax the hand.

C903 that happens alot when pepole use fingers , if you use a release a a string loop it usealy is not a problem . You might try useing diferant prongs , as I belive you are useing a GKF rest . They make an assortment of prongs and one with a slightly higher profile may prevent the problem you are haveing , of coarse that increases your chance of rest contact . If you are are useing feathers it woun't be a problem .

RE: Arrows falling off rest. Why?
Problems of arrow coming off the rest can stem from many things. Too high draw weight, harsh cam rollover, prongs not spaced properly, torguing bow while drawing, canting bow while drawing, etc. I used to have the problem whan I was younger, I was shooting 73 ponds, tm hunter rest, and a golden eagle evolution. My problem was a combination of what I have mentioned.

I don't have problems with my arrow falling of my rest. I was wondering why, these days, so many shooters do.
CBM SC:
Sorry! I missed your first question. If you are still referring to the "moleskin;" No, I do not use "moleskin." The material crowds the window. I do use a piece of thin suede to cover the access slot where the nuts to the rest is located. I cover the area to keep moisture and debris from getting in. The shelf is covered because it looks nice to match the area rather than having a "chopped" piece appearance.
Why do you ask? If you are thinking that I may have the window (side) area covered to dull the "plink" of an arrow falling off my rest, there is no room for my shaft to do so. The shaft cannot roll off the window side of my prongs because I do not cant my bow and I do not shoot those carbon toothpicks. If my shaft was to fall left, the shaft would fall off away from the shelf. Since I rarely have a problem with my shaft rolling off my rest, I do not need to wrap my window in thick sound deadening material.
As for keeping my arrow stable on the rest until I shoot, I use a small 65-cent homemade system that allows me to hold the bow upside down if I was to shoot while hanging by my feet. The holder falls away within 2" of draw.

RE: Arrows falling off rest. Why?
Your a one of a kind !
So you use suede .......but it has nothing to do with it's sound supressing capabilities !! [:-]
A homemade containment system...........why ? If you never have to worry about your arrow falling off your rest ......why do you have a homemade arrow holder ? [][:-]
I can't remember the last time I nocked an arrow off my rest.........but it sure is nice to not have to worry about it ! Obviously you feel the same way !!!

Of course the matrial has some sound-deadening quality. But the concern of a shaft "ticking" the riser is not the primary purpose I install the material. A simple arrow holder has been standard for eons.
My question was directed at the problem and why does (it) seem to be so common anymore, not the use of any particular device.

I recall one time i was so excited/pumped when i got to full draw the arrow was actually bouncing up and down on the prongs of my rest from me shaking so bad--funny how that NEVER happens when i'm shooting in the backyard[:@]

Well then Arthur, you don't have the problem of your arrow falling off, do you.
I think your comment about people being overbowed is correct. One shop I go to has primarily 70# bows. Because that's what their clientel ask for. Many of the new bows are a real chore to draw smoothly, and slowly at that weight. A 60#er will do the job, and be much easier to handle, IMO.
Shooting my stickbows off the shelf with rug rests, I can load an arrow on the string by feel, draw and shoot without ever taking my eyes off the game.
