20 feet for that first shot. It was the twin that I had to track down and do the nasty. Slit the throat with the knife.

First bow kill was with a compound bare bow (no sights)I was 13 the deer was a button buck, I shot him at 20yds, he ran around 100yds right down the farm road I was on, I watched him till he droped. It was a high double lung hit. I've been hooked ever since!

My first one was a poor shot on my part but caught the base of the neck and out the opposite shoulder ! It cut a main artery and she ran about 75 yrds !

In 1997, I actually shot high on my first deer (8pt) hitting part of the spine and exiting the opposite lung. He dropped on the spot.
I wasn't proud of the shot and worked harder on my pre-season practicing.

I didn't have to track my first bow kill, it was a doe and she was down about 30 yards from my tree!

Big doe 16 yards muzzy 3 blade through both lungs traveled about 80 yards. Awesome blood trail, the kind you wish for with every deer.
