Setup for turkeys ?
Ok heres the deal, the turkeys roost across the river. they fly down on the field which is about 200 yards across untill the dried out creek bed where they strut. the creek bed is 10' deep and 15 yards across flanked by big cotton woods then another field with big round hey bales. the question of the day is where do you put the blind? do I try to get them before they enter the creek bottm, or when they are in the bottom, or when they come out the other side to feed?

RE: Setup for turkeys ?
Is this a morning or evening hunt? IF it was in the morning, i would try to get them in the creek. I have a similar setup, and set up right on the edge of this draw in a loading shoot. This is there strutting grounds and ive always had great luck in this setup. But, alot of times, it ends up being an ambush, but every now and then, i get one to strut and decoy properly. So if you like the sights, go for the strutting grounds, if your just goin for a turkey, get them when the enter the creek, like deer in a funnel. :-)

dont use a blind LOL! that or set up off that creek bank, dig out a couple trenches for shooting lanes right off the edges of your blind so they wont see ya when ya draw....hmm the ideas never cease! That or pull out the ole 12 gauge <img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>! If ya know where they are coming from and where they are going to, put your blind enroute either coming or going. Set up on the travel paths like hunter was saying using it as a 'funnel', get out a couple dec's and call every now and then, if they are still there, they will come and you'll be waitn!

I would definately set up in the creek bottom. It will be much easier to draw your bow when the turkeys are strutting, plus, it also gives you a chance to see the show. There's nothing like it.
