Default Mechanicals for guys with 50-55lbs of KE???

Can you guys make a recommendation for those of us that only have 50 or so ft lbs of KE but may be interested in mechanical heads.

Yes sir, the Rocket Steelhead is one mech that will absolutely smash 'em with lower levels of KE. I've had tremedous results shooting the Steelhead 100 with KE in the 50's due to very light arrows and a 28" draw. Complete pass-thru and full size entry 100% of the time. Truly field point accurate and amazing penetration results. Try 'em

I would hesitate to recomend any mechanical for that kind of energy level but, if I did, the Steelhead would be the one.

Rocket steelhead or naildriver, Rocky Ironhead XP NAP scorpion and the Vortex 100 grn steel all come to mind. These heads penetrate well, and open fast. If you have 50 to 55 ft/lbs of KE and a well tuned bow they should work good on deer size game.

I also feel that the design of the Rocky Mountain Snyper is an excellent choice for those lower poundage (or KE) setups. The way the blades deploy , and the cut on contact tip , give it the least resistance for penetration when compared to other mechanical heads.

Wait until July and give the TEKAN from G5 a try and tell us what you think. If it performs as good as it looks it should be a bad a$$ head for just about anything. Blades that open rearward and a one piece furrel from thread to tip.

Product Features:
Grain Wghts: 100 & 125
Cutting Dia.: 1-3/16” cutting diameter
Straightness: +/-.002"
Material: Solid Stainless Steel
Design: Multi-Tapered Blades
- two main .040" thick blades w/ a tough 5/8" cut-on-contact tip
- One-piece “Head to Thread” TM Construction
- Patented MonoflowTM Technology
- Re-Sharpenable

I would think the Rocky Mountain Snypers or the Gator XPs would be good for lower poundage setups due to their design and the sharpness of their blades.

oop's I totaly forgot about the Snypers[:-] they too are a great choice for lowe Ke setups. I love the Gators as well but think with the setup were talking about they may prove a bit much.

Yeah, I was thinking the Gators might be pushing it a little. You would just have to pick your shots very wisely. I started shooting the Gators last year and love them. I killed 3 with them last year. My setup was closer to 70# but they blew right through them and buried 8-10" in the ground on the other side.

Ill second 5shots vote for the Vortex 100 grn steel , at 1 1/2" cut and 2 blades . I think you will be fine .
