An extra half inch?

RE: An extra half inch?
In most cases an extra half inch of arrow is not going to affect accuracy or tune to a large extent. However, that is extremely subjective to the individual setup (arrows, draw length, point weight, etc..) being used. Spine would be my chief concern. A longer arrow, of the same size, is going to have a weaker spine.

RE: An extra half inch?
Let me throw in my penny.
$40 Bucks for hunters is a fair price - I have seen them go for cheaper.
I would not recommend a full length GT hunter arrow to anyone - they are very "not straight"
I would recommend not only cutting them as short as you can but to also take off some arrow from BOTH ends.
Your pro shop was just too lazy to cut them - and they should have.
Sometimes a great deal - is not so great. IMO the Hunters are a poor choice for braodhead shooter.
Also - just to make it worse - If you were supplied GT lock nocks with them - toss them in the garbage. Easton Uni-nocks press right in and work much better.

RE: An extra half inch?
Just to throw out a possibility, some folks believe that BH tipped arrows should be long enough so that if it falls off the rest the BH won't cut into your hand. So, this MIGHT be why the shop said leave em longer.
Of course they could have just not felt like dealing with it too.
I have a 30 inch draw and shoot 28.5 inch arrows.
