There will be a meeting in
West Plains at the Civic Center (110 St. Louis St.) on March 16, in Cape
Girardeau on March 29 (don't know location yet but SE regional office
may know), and Springfield on March 30 (Bass Pro Shop). Each of these
meetings starts at 7pm and will run a couple of hours.

horntagger, do you have any info if they are having any of these meetings around the Salem or Rolla area. Are these the meetings about the new regulations? Thanks

Thanks horntagger.
I've got the same question: I guess they're wanting our input on upcoming regulations? Or do you know of any other reasons? Have you been given an agenda or anything?
If you find out where the meeting will be held in Cape, let me know. You can either post back here or e-mail me.
Thanks.

I assume these meetings are about the new options that may be place in Units 28.29.30 and 12,13 & 14, if I remember all the units correctly. These are the MDC pilot units which may test some sort of buck limiting restrictions. The MDC put out five different options including antler restrictions, earn-a-buck, moving firearm season out of the rut, buck tag limits, and cutting down the # of days which bucks can be taken during the firearm season. Restrictions may be in place for the 2004 season.
The units mentioned above are test units. Eventually, some form of buck restrictions may apply to the entire state.
The MDC has more info on their site, and various other web sites has discussed this quite thoroughly.

I would also urge everyone to attend these meetings. Change is in the air and reasons behind these changes can be heard from MDC's deer managers. Eventually, they may change the way you hunt deer here in the state.
I am sure if you contact MDC, they can provide you guys with meeting times and places.

I have my cousin in Gasconade County telling me that, in that county they are pushing for an 8 pt restriction for a limited time. Just thought I would throw that your way.
