Illinois does have some pretty good hunting... I have seen 1 huge buck while hunting and this was on public ground not private..

Pike is a good huntin spot but i'd have to say Calhoun would be my choice... They are over run with deer up there... And there are some really nice bruisers that come outta there...

Just remember it's still hunting. It has the potential to be some of the best in the world but it also has the potential to send you home with your hat in your hand. I prefer the term "cautiously optimistic". You will probably have a great hunt but if you build it up to much in your mind, you could be in for a let down, but if you keep your expectations reasonable you will be pleased.

PS Don't believe HNTNWHTTAIL4LF, there were only 3 deer killed in Calhoun Co. last year. Yep, Pike Co. is where you wanna go[8D]
