Default Well, I bought a crossbow...

I posted some questions here about getting into bow hunting, and took people's advice. I tried a few different bows, and found that I could not draw back even a light bow, due to a prior shoulder injury.

I'm not willing to miss out on 4 months of deer hunting, so I bought a crossbow (legal here in Ohio). Now I will practice and learn the skills of bow hunting.

An archer? No. But I will still have to learn how to get close, be still and quiet, manage scent, learn the deer's habits, and properly place the shot and track the deer.

If bow hunting is a family, I guess I will be its Bastard Cousin.[&:]

Congrats!!!! I say hunt how ever you can, so long as you get out there an enjoy yourself it's all good. Unfortunately, to the detriment of the sport IMO, some of the people on this forum don't think you should have that right. I say the more the merrier and good luck!

Your bowhunting will be no different until its time to take the shot - then that is where the difference will come compared to shooting a compound/longbow/recurve.

I suggest practice and bow tuning to get it shooting as well as it can, then go out and fill some tags.

BTW, don't feel like you're NOT bowhunting, you most certainly ARE !!
