Hunting Journals?

RE: Hunting Journals?
I have never kept a journal but always thought it would be a good idea. Thanks, Wa. Hunter, for bringing this up. I think I will start one beginning this spring while I'm turkey hunting. Thanks

RE: Hunting Journals?
I'm a soulmate of Elkcrazy8. My miniature tape recorder is the only modern gadget that I carry afield. I record what I observe and hear year round. It helps you when you are patterning wildlife. Later, when warm and reflective I replay the days happenings. I develop a diary from those sessions after listening to the hushed voice I have learned to use. It's a great tool and if they ever need a hushed voice for the Golf Channel I'll be ready with countless demo tapes. It has also helped me with my vocalization techniques. I constantly replay those vocalization so I can learn how to mimic wildlife calls.

RE: Hunting Journals?
I tried keeping a journal but it always took last place after getting ready for the next day's hunt. I eventually got behind on it and gave up. I've gotten in the habit of taking a digital camera in the woods and documenting the hunt that way. It also helps to pass the time a bit if I'm in the tree all day. Maybe I oughta try writing stuff down like wind observations and other conditions as well.
