What hunting tips would you like to share that make you sucessful?
I have run into some great old time hunters, who shared some great tips for hunting elk or deer, and of course I have some of my own. One of my tips, when hunting on any ground that contains cattle, is use the cow pies as a scent blocker, I step both feet in them and head up to my area. I know this helps eliminate scents picked up around camp, anyone want to share some of there secerts.

Listen very hard after the shot. You can't take in enough details after the shot. Where was it when hit, which way did it go, where did it dissapear? Don't start eating venison or looking for your arrow yet. I have had three deer pile up (I heard them fall) within earshot from arrow kills in the last two years. Two were under 100 yds and one just over. I have had a few stinkers make it to the next county (or it just seemed like it) after being hit. They make for a long tracking job but all ov them won't go down quick. The sound of a deer piling up within earshot is almost as good of a sound as the broadhead hitting the chest and blasting thru. Listen for it.

Forget that August and Sept. scouting. If you seriously want to harvest deer on purpose then hit the woods hard during the post season when everyone else is sitting home infront of the TV. Nearly all the deer's secrets are laying bare for you to see Jan- Mar.
