how long to hunt?

how long to hunt?
i was just woundering how long some of you hunt or do you hunt all today? If i dont see any deer i have to get down by 9:00 or so. just dont have any confidence after that. I will get back on it about 2:00

During the rut, I'm packing a lunch and not leaving all day. Bow season non-rut, I'll sit until 10:00am then back in at about 2:00pm. Gun season the times continuously shrink and I start to lose my mind lol.

During early season 3 hours is ample time if you have the deer patterned. During the rut im in for the duration. And late season I just try to sit as long as I can. If its really cold I will wait till around 330 and hunt about an hour and a half or so till dark

I have shot deer at 7, 8, 8:30, 9, 10:30, 2:30, 5 & 5:30, and a few on the quarter hour in between. The only sumation I can come up with is to shoot them when they pass within range of your stand. I have started down from my stand on 2 occasions and spooked deer feeding towards me. I wish I would have stayed just 15 more mnutes. But hey thats hunting. You never know.

I always hunt until about 11 except during the peak of the rut where I will stay on stand all day. Ive killed alot of deer between 10 am and noon.
It also depends on which stand im in. If im in or close to the bedding area I'll hunt alot longer.
