Storing your camo during the season and off season
[color=#000066]Ok, here is a couple more questions for everyone. First, how do yu all store your camo during the season? I was thinking of getting some plastic air tight totes and keeping my stuff in them. I was thinking of getting 1 smaller one to keep in my truck, in here I would keep things like hats, gloves, head nets, my rubber boots, seat cushions...... And then one to keep in the basement for things like my heavier jackets and my bibs. And then since I get most of the way dressed at home, I would get one to keep in my bedroom for things like my camo jeans, shirts long underwear, and sweatshirt. And then in all of these totes I would throw in some leaves and stuff from outside. And allso, by doing this, do you think the smell of the new totes will get into my clothes? I was thinking about washing the totes with scentless soap, and then spraing some cover scent in them. Does this sound crazy, or is this a good idea?
Second question, how many of you get dressed out in the woods? I work with a guy that gets completely dressed out there. It makes sence if you think about it, but man I get cold just thinking about it. Oh well, just wondering how everyone else does it. Sorry this got so long.[/color

I've been thinking of doing the same thing. I also thought that those totes have their own smell. I didn't know if you could get rid of it. Interested in hearing what people hear think!
Good Luck!

I store them in the off season in some big snap lid tubs in the basement. I also store some in a metal garbage can. During the season I keep a couple sets in these water proof, canoeing bags that you roll the top and snap a quick disconnect closesure on. They come in several sizes,.... I use the larger. For example, I just pulled out my hunting clothes for tomorrow. All my long johns etc are in one with a couple wool shirts. In another I have a set of wool camo and some snowflage. I have different colored ropes attached to tell me what's inside. I have about 4 of these bags. They're great for traveling in the car. When I go someplace like NY I'll have all my rain gear in one, wools in a couple, camo colors in another, undies and extra wool shirts and socks in another.

I store mine in one of those large rubbermaid tubs with a few scent wafers thrown in. I am care ful to store my scent-lok liner in a totally scentproof bag so it doesn't pick up any of the odors from the scent wafers. I think this works very well and to prove it I have yet to be winded this year by a deer and I know there were times when the wind was blowing what scent I had directly to a deer and they didn't wind me at all. I also make sure to not store anything that has not been washed in sportwash in the tubs or any of the scent-free bags I have so as to not spread any scent on those clothes to the clothes that have been washed already.

All my Scentlok clothing stays in a few HS Deluxe Travel Scent bags (24" X 33"). The remaining clothing for layering is stored in a rubbermaid action packer, previously washed with scent-a-way laundry detergent and then neutralized with some scent-a-way. Added to this, I throw in a few (2) fresh earth cover scent wafers. For the entire hunting season everything stays in the truck, other than when it's time to reactivate the scentlok, this I do once every two weeks. But if I'd done allot of walking and sweating then I reactivate the scentlok sooner. Layering is done at home, (in the basement), the scentlok goes on (at the back of the truck) before going to the stand and 'yes' there is quite a bit of 'shaking and wiggling', questioning my wisdom and reason for putting myself thru this in -10 (sometimes lower) temperature and juggling with the light to see what I am doing!! I also hang two natural pine wafers (HS Scents) in my truck year round, cycling them when the scent fades.

I store mine in the big rubbermaid totes too. I go to my hunting sight and take leaves, branches, dirt, whatever and mix into my clothing. I don't know if that helps or not, but seems like a good idea having the smell of the area you're hunting on your clothes.

Yeah, I use the rubbermaid totes also.....I washed them with scent free soap before I used them.... when I take my clothes to the field(in a garbage bag), sometimes I'll throw a couple cedar branches in the bag....I can't see this being a negative thing to do, and I like the smell.

From what I've read and seen, if you wash those tubs out with a scent-free wash they should be fine. I usually will throw a scent wafer or two in as well. I use Fresh Dirt.
Bucks kept sneaking up on me and humping me when I used the buck-rut wafers!
