just walk through the woods near where i hunt... every 2 years or so i blow a chip shot on a HUGE buck and fling my bow as hard as i can out of the tree. then i go to the shop and buy a new model, because I KNOW IT COULD NOT be MY fault, it must be defective equipment!!
good luck , you'll love it! (or go nuts!)

You can get into it fairly reasonable, or go nuts and spend thousands. Either way, it's not a cheap sport. What hobby is though? Also, it's an expensive sport to stay in too. The more you do it, the more gadgets you want and the more nuts you will become - everything from buying just one more tree stand to buying hunting property to buying vehicles for hunting to........ All for deer. Gotta love it!

It CAN be.

Not necessarily.

The more you do it, the more gadgets you want...
Not everyone gets like that.

...and the more nuts you will become -
But everyone DOES get like that. Eventually.

But back to being expensive... I know several primitive shooters who make all their own gear and haven't spent a penny on store bought archery stuff in some years. A few tools is all they need. Their arrows don't set any speed records, but they each manage a deer or two every year.

This year I just retooled. I cant afford new stuff, but if your smart you can do it right. I got a 5 year old used bow for 100$. this came with a sight, silencers, etc. then I bought some arrows. When I was finished I spent 180$ this year. You can Bargain hunt and be ok.

shoppers tip: no matter what the salesman, friends, others say, a properly tuned used 100$ bow will leave them just as dead as a 600$+ setup.

the key is tune it properly and practice. practice. practice.

No matter what you spend you will be hooked for life and the money won't matter.

Young_gun sorry, I can't help you with a number as you cannot put a price enjoyment. Its not how much you spend but rather how much the thrill, solitude and beauty of the sport is worth to you. But what ever you spend is money not wasted.
