Default Climber problem. How long does yours last?

I bought a Warren and Sweat Master Climber this year in August. I tested it 3 times before bow season started and then used it probably 10-15 times. Saturday when I was up a tree I noticed that it has a small crack in one of the support arms on the foot portion. This is the piece that basicly holds you to the tree. I was trying to find an internet site for Warren and Sweat and can' t find it. I called the place I bought it and they said to bring it back. I don' t have the reciept but they said bring it back anyway. That makes me really glad I bought it at one of our better local gun/hunting/fishing shops. But it got me to wondering.

How long do you guys keep a climber before getting another one. how long should they last? As an added note, I weigh 207 lbs and this climber is rated for 250.

UPDATE: I took the stand to the place I bought it. They said that Warren and Sweat are out of business. As such, I am stuck and they can' t do anything for me. They said to hang on to it in case someone buys the company and then they would have to honor the warranty. What luck? Guess I' m a ground pounder for the rest of this year. I might be able to find a metal shop that can make another support arm since it just bolts onto the stand anyway.

Whoa... David your tree stand has a crack in it? I' m glad you can bring it back to the store where you got it. Since my Ameristep climber is relatively new (and I' m new to climbers as well), I' m not sure how long people keep them. When we hunted Powhatan last Saturday, I had the foot section of my climber slip down about an inch on me and scared the crap outta me! [] Thank God for safety straps, bungie cords, etc...etc...

Take care.

I bought a Loggy Bayou climber in 91 that I used hard for 12 years. I just bought a new one this year - i' d still feel VERY comfortable in my 1st one.

The new one had a few changes that I really liked - only reason I bought it.

I would call up the company - it is not safe!!!

I have to believe a quality stand like my Summits will last a lifetime and I am 6' 1" and 230 lbs.

I would definitely be concerned if I were in your situation. I would expect the climber to last much longer than what you listed. I have had an API Bowhunter for 3 years now with on problems to speak of. However, to be on the safe side I picked up a Summit Revolution this past year as I would hate to be stuck in a situation when I needed a climber and did not have it.

I' ve had an old Buckshot stand for 10-12 years now and it still works fine.

Had to have the seat re-covered once.

I bought a Warren & Sweat 2 years ago from Scott' s Outdoors and had a small piece on the foot straps on the bottom half break. I called Warren & Sweat directly and they sent me a whole new bottom half and let me keep the broken one. I thought their customer service was excellent but I have not heard anything about them going out of business.

A good climbing stand should last many years. As in anything, periodic checks of any stand should be made, just in case. I developed a squeak in my upper portion.........fixed it by replacing a teflon washer for 25 cents.

I used one loggy for about 12 years and then bought my present API which must be about 8 years old. I changed out the chains last year just on general principle. That' s pretty much all that can go wrong with it.
