Rubber is gas permeable. Scent is usually gaseous in nature.

My Rocky Bobcats weren' t cheap, but they last a long time, and other than only wearing them while hunting and giving them a squirt or two of homemade ghost juice before heading out, I' ve not had a single deer bust my entry trail since... As an added bonus, they are waterproof and breathable, so sweat build up isn' t an issue. I simply wear wicking polypropeline socks, and my feet stay dry and comfy.
