filled my doe tag on Sunday morning !
I finally connected Sunday morning with a second year doe ..... the day after shotgun season ended ..... now I have some tender meat and can keep trying to fill my other either-sex tag ..........
I think my arrow deflected on a branch because I hit high and far back, and the arrow exited low by the rear opposite leg - the arrow angled sharply down , much steeper angle than the shot itself ........ luckily I hit the main artery (aortic ?) running near the tenderloins and she only went about 30 yards and collapsed.
My arrow had some blood and lots of fat on it ...... it was stuck in a fallen log where the deer was at the time of the shot. After the shot, she bounded away, was out of sight behind some evergreens and I heard her crash, then no more sound. I waited a half hour, got down, examined the arrow, (was a little worried seeing all the fat), but looked ahead and saw a good blood trail, steady which led me to the fallen deer, quite close by.
Thanks to everyone on this forum for the advice, encouragement, stories, etc .....
I am glad the gun hunters didn' t spook all the deer around here !!!

RE: filled my doe tag on Sunday morning !
Happy Thanksgiving to all you fellow hunters South of the border ! I guess a measly doe doesn' t raise any eyebrows in this forum where so many big buck kills get posted ....... anyway, I had hoped for a few responses to my above post ...... maybe some of you who had a similar shot hit further back ......... Sorry I had no photos to share, I' m shopping for a digital camera for a xmas gift to myself.
Hope your turkey dinners are the best ever !
I was born in the U.S., and keep trying to convince my boss that I deserve to get your holiday off of work !!!!!
