RE: Lost faith in my Pro Shop today
I went into a supposedly shop a while back and the owner was showing me his own personal bow. Would you believe the top limb had a splinter on it and the cams felt like a rough bumpy road when you drew it. I mentioned these to him and he said "no big deal" You think he is going to touch my bow. I DON'T THINK SO.

Well, as most of you know, I own a "Pro Shop" by standards set by many of my customers and peers. I do wholeheartedly agree with all of you that it is shameful that some stores "claim" to be a "Pro Shop".
It takes nothing but a little money to put up a sign. There are no standards that you have to meet. The manufacturers, for the most part, are in part the blame; because, they'll sell to just about anyone who presents them with a "business" scenario.
The only true measure of a "Pro Shop" is the customers evaluation when compared to viable competition. If you have one in your area, you would do wise to support it as much as possible.

Most shops are not Pro-shops, they are Bow-shops. It never ceases to amaze me how people can choose a particular business to make a living at, and then not put in the effort required to learn the most they can about the thing they do. Most of the people who frequent this forum regularly, know more than many bow shop workers.
Support your local Proshop. If you don't have a "Pro"shop, then don't feel guilty about shopping price.

Lil, i have heard this from too many people, fortunatly im prety stocked up on stuff. as for information you have to go to anchorage. i watched bill at back country archery tune a bow, first thing he did was ask the guy if he wanted the bow tuned or if he wanted to learn to tune it himself. bill spent about an hour with the guy and they were shooting bullet holes and the guys bow was 7fps faster. if you ever do get in to anchorage you should stop in and say hi to bill.

usually I bring my equip down to anch on the extended trips and hit Uncle Bills shop. (he isnt my uncle, just a name they gave him). I love the range albeit simple its sure fun shooting up to the second floor and humoring myself LOL.
Btw I was just at north pole last nite for our 'trad league'. go figure no one called me or another guy. Bill had the range torn apart.....you know whats in those burlap bags behind the foam? Plastic bags and crap..just about whatever they could find to fill it with but basically the shrink wrap! Man and I thought I was a cheap bastard! !
As for info..good luck getting the stickbow stuff up here OR in anchorage! SOrry dont have any wheels to tune other then on the pickup !
