What a great story - to pull in a monster like that from that distance must have been exhilirating! Congrats to you and yours for a great deer!

Tazman,
Yeah, the Spitfire busted through the near shoulder, but I only got about seven inches of penetration after that. Clearly, it was enough, as it put the buck down within 70 yards, and I' ve got to take the blame for not ensuring better shot placement at such close range. The words " pick a spot" come to mind...![Big Grin](https://www.huntingnet.com/forum/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
Just to help out with the evaluation of performance from the equipment, I of course shoot a Mathews MQ-1 at 67 lbs., one-inch Mathews overdraw, and the 100-grain Spitfire was riding atop a 55/75 Gold Tip Hunter XT.
As a sidenote, I usually ALWAYS shoot Rocket Aerohead miniblasters tipped with a Pathfinder point, but late last year went through all I had in stock, and my local archery shop didn' t have any. I bought these as a substitute.

Greg,
You certainly are having a blessed year huh!?![Smile](https://www.huntingnet.com/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif)
I think years down the road when we are talking about past hunts you are going to realize that it can' t get any better than that.
Congrats!!! but tell Allison to let you do your own dirty work. By the way did I mention that your son has the coolest name ever.[8D]
And check the kid for ticks![
