Headed to Illinois.......with my ASAT
Guys - My ASAT arrived yesterday... and tomorrow Im off to Illinois for 8 days of hunting..... Bucks are chasing, weather is cooling off a lot (supposed to be 21 low,45 high friday) Saturday will be cool and Ill be in a stand all day where I saw a monster (about a 170) 2 years ago......
My 10 year old son is going - hes got his ASAT also......
I am really excited about using the ASAT and I cannot say enough good things about Chuck at ASAT and his help.... what a nice guy.
If we get a buck early I will probobly decoy in a deer for a friend that wants to try it... also going to see how close I can get to a deer in ASAT - and film it ....as long as I get a deer early in the week..you know how that goes..... 2 years ago - i got a big 8 point after being in my stand 45 minutes - first day... last year, another 8 point - my last day, 8 am, in the rain and man I was cold !!!!
Anyway - I cant wait to get there guys.... and hopefully comeback with some photos to share and mabee even some deer video....
See ya soon

So what kind of camo are you going to be using? I must have missed it in your post.
I had ordered a leafy ASAT outfit off the website a couple weeks ago and then sent an email to cancel the order once I found out that it was going to be awhile before they had more in stock. Lo' and behold there was a package on my doorstep as of Monday afternoon with my ASAT oufit inside. I guess it is some sort of sign that I should just keep it....I mean it is in my possession now anyways and it would be such a shame to send it back...
Good luck to you and I will let you folks know how it works for me come this Saturday...

Even though I was only in my Mossy Oak this morning, there wer definitely deer moving everywhere here in IL! I saw 2 bucks and 5 does this morning, while my buddy who was hunting a mile or so away saw 4 bucks and 2 does. They seem to be coming out of the woodwork, litteraly!
Good luck on your hunt. Try to leave a few for the rest of us.

I' m leaving for Illinois on saturday, and I' ll also be wearing ASAT!!
I' ve already had a terrific season here in PA, ASAT has more than proved itself. Chuck Pensyl is one of the most friendly people I' ve ever met, truely one of a kind.

Hopefully Ill have some good stories, a nice buck and some good pictures !
Ill be hunting in Vermilion County. I actually HUNT in Vermilion County Indiana - Vermilion county is split in half - IL, and IN...... I have a friend that has about 15000 acres...... and I am only one of about 3 bowhunters that hunt it. They hunt it - but with shotguns the week after I leave although I always stay for opening day to hear all the stories and see what everyone brings in.... Its a great time and Im bringing my son (actualy my step son) who is 10 - first time he will see Illinois , and what farmland is .... I cant wait... he is SO excited.... he has never been deer hunting and Im excited....... and been training him......
I have the perfect way to explain to a child how to hunt deer from a stand - my saying goes like this :
" Hunt like the owl.... move only your head and your eyes, Thats how the owl hunts, and so do we"
Everytime I say it he smiles ..........
Talk to you guys in about 10-12 days........
