First Kill
Well this past Thursday my hard hunting finally paid off. I have been bowhunting for two years but was not able to get serious about it until this year because i could not drive and my dad isn' t quite as crazy about bowhunting as I am. But Thursday i got up to my hunt club about an hour before dark after doing some chores. I went to place i had never scouted before but it was faster and easier to get to then my other stand. I was in the stand about 30 minutes when i heard something in the creek to my right. When i looked i could see what i thought was just a little 6 pointer maybe. I still prepared myself for the shot in case i got lucky, and deer would have been a trophy with the bow for me. Luck was definetly on my side as it the turned and followed the ridge towards me. It seemed like it took an eternity but he finally covered to 40 yards to my stand and at 10 yards quartering away i made a good shot on him. He only ran 10 yards, stopped then layed down. When i got out of my stand and went to take a look at him I was shocked to see it was a nontypical 8 pointer. It weighed 160 lbs. with a 15 inch inside spread. I think that was the most amazing deer kill for me ever and I know there is no way i will ever forget any part of that hunt. I am still saying prayers of thanks now 3 days later.
