Well, tonight was a great hunt - it had all the elements of a good hunt - Bucks chasing does - calling them back with a grunt - Passing up deer opting for a better choices. No rain, light winds - falling temps.
I ended up double lunging a fine six point - dressed out at 130. If you know me, you know that I have a 6 point min rule - and my goal is a 2-1/2 year old or older deer. I' m not sure if it was 2-1/2 yrs - but I was pleased.
One interesting thing - The arrow did not exit - I was like it hit a brick wall - I saw this at the shot - and decided to let it lay for 3-4 hours in case there was a pnentration problem. As it turned out - the Broadhead buried into the opposite shoulder blade - and did not exit as a result. I' ll bet the deer was dead in 30 seconds, and my 3+ hour wait was not needed - BUT better safe than sorry. - NOTE - I had to " chase off" the coyotes when I went after it- they were howling and yipping - but had not yet actually partaken in the carcass.
I' ll post some pictures when I can get a chance to edit them -
I LOVE IT!
