Question- Large bird walking with Deer?????
The other day, I saw a group of deer that had a big beautiful bird that was walking right through the woods with them. When the group of deer stopped, the bird stopped. When they turned left, the bird went left, etc. This bird obviously was traveling with the deer.
I don' t know what kind of bird it was. It had a really beautiful teal green/teal blue neck. The only thing I could think of is a peacock, but it did not have the long tail featheres.
Has anyone seen anything like this before??
Any idea as to what type of bird I saw hanging out with these deer?

That' s interesting. I' m trying to think of some bird that would fit your description. The only bird I' ve seen following a deer were turkeys. How big was this mysterious bird compared to a turkey? Did it have a longer neck, long legs, etc.? Any other descriptive info could help.

Not a turkey, not a heron, not a crane.
Maybe an escaped peacock, but I don' t recall seeing the long distinguished tail feathers. The bird walked with its head up high and had kind of a thick neck.
The blue/green was really amazing. I found it most interesting how it just stayed right with the group of deer. Almost as if it thought it was a deer.

What about a ring-neck pheasent? They are fairly large, not as big as a turkey, but, a male ringneck has great coloration
This is a ringneck........... http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=...d_image_search
