Default Dad' s Buck (pic)

I wanted to share a picture from my favorite hunt of all time. My disabled father (stroke 13 years ago) shot this buck at ten yards just 50 yards from his truck. He got it last year on the gun opener. It' s his first deer in over twenty years. He unselfishly focused on the hunting success of me and my brother during most of those years - just unlucky in the others.

We keep in touch with him on our handhelds during our hunts to make sure he is okay. When he wasn' t responding to my calls, I got out of my stand and headed towards him through some pretty thick stuff. Got to within 50 yards of him when I heard his slug gun discharge. Needless-to-say, I got behind a tree in a hurry and watched as 18 does bolted passed me at a high rate of speed.

Reached dad and he was babbling and not making much sense and hyperventilating like a kid on xmas morning. I' ve never been more proud. It almost made me cry.

I saw a 4-pt from the same stand two years earlier that had a mangled little " Y" on the left side. Same buck? Hope you like the pic.

congrats to your dad, good thing he can go out and enjoy the outdoors, my grandfather had a stroke a few years ago and is unable to do anything but fish off his pier.
