My first deer with a bow!
I got my first deer with a bow Sunday.A nice doe shot at about 30 yards. She turned and walked about 10 yards away, stood facing away from me for 10 to 15 seconds then she fell over dead!I' ve hunted deer for 35 years and have shot alot of deer with either a shotgun or rifle.I was very suprised and glad she didn' t run farther away.I' ve watched alot of hunting shows where the deer runs out of sight.I want to thank this web site and all the guys who answered all the questions I asked for helping me get this deer.

RE: My first deer with a bow!
Yes, I' ll be looking for a buck now Willie.I couldn' t beleive how fast the deer died.It didn' t act like it was hit so hard. The deer turned and trotted about 10 yards. It was facing away from me and I thought I saw my arrow sticking out the other side.It must have been a solid stream of blood I saw because it was a double lung pass through. The arrow broke a rib going in and one coming out.The deer fell over and didn' t even kick.I still waited 15 or 20 minutes before I got down because I was shaking so hard. This is my second year of bow hunting and the first arrow I' ve shot at an animal..All of the practice and patience paid off.I' ve read 100' s of posts on this site and have asked alot of questions. All of my questions were answered and very helpful. So thanks again guys for helping me get my first deer with a bow!Gun hunting is fun but I can' t put into words how it felt to get a deer with a bow!I' ve tryed to be as scent free as possiable but the wind can still bust you.I' m sure deer have a sixth sense. There' s no way a few of those deer should have known I was their but somehow they did.
