Is this THE perfect day for bowhunting or what ?
Fri, Oct 24 Mostly Sunny 86°/59° 0 %
Sat, Oct 25 Scattered T-Storms 63°/44° 40 %
We' re going into the 4th week of October, we' ve had 6-7 days of 85-90 degree weather, the deer are just waiting to explode into full pre-rut ..... the area I am hunting is a very well managed 5000 acres, 1-1 buck/doe ratio, only about 15-20 guys hunting it ..... I just cannot imagine a better day to hunt ! I' ll let ya' ll know how I do.
Anyone else taking advantage of this cold front (southern states) ???

RE: Is this THE perfect day for bowhunting or what ?
This WMA (from what the wildlife person told me) has a 1.3 - 1 buck/doe ratio. Only 6 bucks a year can be taken off the 5000 acres. Sheds found last year scored 230" non-typical. There was a 200" non-typical whitetail killed that had palmation up to 11" at the end of his main beams. A typical buck here will be a 3 1/2 - 4 1/2 year old 140" -150" . The older 5 1/2 and up bucks will push into the upper 100' s and low 200' s inches or antler - just awesome.
Good thing is I drew the tag and can hunt it a few days. Bad news is I already used my vacation days on elk and upcoming KS whitetail hunt. That KS hunt is awesome, but I' d place this special draw hunt above it even.
Can' t wait ! I' m taking my 35mm Canon and 300 mm lens and can hopefully photo some of those big deer if nothing else.
