170" Buck-Point Blank Range-2 Hours, 19 minutes and 33 Seconds!! And I Didn' t Shoot it!!!
I know what your thinking!!?!?!!? Why in the heck didn' t this guy take a shot........Well, I was doe hunting a Private Ranch that is managed by my cousin and Bucks were OFF LIMITS (at least for now). I have a four day hunt scheduled for the end of this month and the first part of November!! Can' t wait.
The story: I get to my stand 45 minutes before sunrise. A deer approachs from the North and starts eating milo fifteen yards away. After a few minutes and my eyes begin to focus I see HORNS and lots of THEM! MY GOD is the first thing that goes through my head. That is the BIGGEST buck I' ve ever seen was the second. Go figure....it' s a buck and I can' t shoot him was the thrid.
This buck was a Massive bodied, 4 1/2 -5 1/2 year old deer, 12-point buck that I field judged to gross approximately 172" . I was able to get a VERY good look at him!!!! He walked around my stand for 2 hours, 19 minutes and 33 seconds.
It was an AWESOME experience! Watched him spar with two smaller bucks, chase off 8 other bucks, chase 2 does (until they left), make a scrape and make a rub, all within 30 yards of me!!!!! Never the less, I didn' t get a chance to harvest a doe, but I didn' t care.
Maybe, just maybe he will come back around in two weeks!!!

I have the same problem on my lease with these smaller 170 class bucks[]
I know there are bigger ones there so I let the smaller 170' s go so they can grow up some more
