What a story, but I agree that I wouldn' t have taken the shot until the deer separated.

He said he was hunting with a buddy so he can legally party hunt, his buddy legally tagged the second buck. Apparently he and his buddy didn' t have the ' all season buck' tag, which doesn' t allow party hunting.

I thought it sounded fishy too. The kids dad didn' t believe it either until he saw that his son was only missing one arrow. It does make you wonder though, I mean what are the odds?

Rackluster is right, in MN party hunting is legal. His friend who was hunting with him tagged one of the deer.

Good Luck!

Bassn81,

In illinois we only get one buck tag at a time for Archery, how would he be able to tag them and not get fined?
That is incorrect. Residents (which you are) may buy as many combo tags as they' d like, but may only take two antlered deer per season. You can buy two combo tags and kill two bucks in a day if you' d like.

There is no limit on the number of tags you can buy per day as a resident bowhunter in Illinois.

I think it is believable, but a poor choice to shoot at a buck with another behind it. I used to do it with blackbirds and a .22, but that' s almost off topic.
