Oh, wait till you experience what you have been missing. It is the ultimate hunting rush that really tests your patients and nerves but every second is worth it.
Good luck to you and shoot straight!!

Hey Krotalus! You' re from the same town as I grew up in. I grew up down on the southside, near Hall manor. We then moved out to Linglestown. What part of Harrisburg are you from?
Welcome to bow hunting. I just started last year after solely gun hunting for 25 years on and off. I did bow hunt one day back in 1990, but I don' t really count that since it was only for a couple of hours.
Anyway, I was lucky enough to find some good hunting land out here in Nebraska and was doubly lucky to get a buck last year. To say I' m hooked is an understatement. It is really something to harvest a deer with a bow. The patience, thrill, excitement, heart pounding and heart stopping action that is bow hunting is unmatched in anything I have done to date. Having to wait for a deer to move into range for upwards to 5, 10, or 15 minutes or more when you could have shot it with a rifle the moment you saw it is what really sets it apart, in my opinion. There is little of that in gun hunting, in my experience anyway. You see it, you shoot it, day over. There are just so many more variables involved in bow hunting. In a word or two... it' s Awesome.
Good Luck and enjoy your hunt.

Oh how I wished I picked up bow hunting 20 years earlier!! Good luck. It' s a blast. Don' t be depressed when you see deer but don' t have a shot and wish you had your shotgun. Too many times I have deer close by that would be easy kills with a shotgun, but not even a chance with a bow. This is what makes it fun and challenging! Hunt safe and enjoy!
