Had Great 2nd Weekend
Had a second great weekend. Spending time in the woods is Wonderful.
Well lets see....
Last week I was the only one to see a beautiful buck but he never gave me the opportunity to draw. Came out telling the guys (Mike from Texas is one of my Hunting buddies). Man you should have seen him, he is there waiting on us. Didn' t get anymore opportunities that week end.
This weekend, Check the Camera and who do we see. Big boy himself with friends. OMG I can' t wait. I think Mike will be posting pictures later. This is a Big, healthy 8 point buck. Maybe 3-4 yrs old. His firends are several young 6 pointers, not shooters yet but getting there.
This weekend I learned a valuable lesson. Never when you have spotted a deer assume it is the only one. I spotted a deer, not sure what is was but a deer. Listening it walk was a pleaseure and having no idea I am there. It starts heading off to walk around behind me. I am attentive, alert and my heart is about to jump out my Chest. OMG, I am excited. Then nothing...... No more sounds, nothing. I relax and slowly start to look around to find it again, and then BAM. Right in fromt of me (about 80 yrds out) and Beautiful, healthy doe. just munching away without a care in the world. I am now excited again. This is a wonderful feeling watching her. After about 20 minutes, she is gone. and I think to myseld , well at least I seen something. This is late afternoon, just before dark. Then I hear it, Snap! I slowly turn and there was the second one. A doe, just a big as the first and she was about 25 yrds out. My heart jumps out my chest and I know I can see it. and I think so can she. She turns slowly giving me the perfect opportunity to get my bow. I stand, get bow and slowly turn. She still has no idea I am there. Now its gettiing dark, getting hard to see. As I get the bow into position, getting ready for that pull back. You all know where I am at. The radio goes off!!! " Todd, you there?" She stops, immediately to alert, by this time it is too dark to make the shot, so I start to realx. She starts to walk off, slowly but with intention of getting away. Then the radio again, " Todd you there" , I start to laugh, this stuff only happens to me. I was amazed though, with the radio volumn barely up, it was extremely loud. I guess I never realized just how quiet it gets out there.
You know guys it just doesn' t get anybetter than this. GOD I love this stuff!

Sounds like a good hunt, with lessons learned to boot. I do carry my cell phone with me hunting, but it is turned off, a radio for me would be out of the question just for the very reason you mentioned.
