I have to cross trails...walk on trails to get to my stand and I have deer follow or cut my tracks with no problems. Just keep your stuff scent free and you' ll be fine.

If you run the risk of spooking deer in the morning,
I' d set up a 2nd stand closer to the edge that is
easier to get in to.
As far as deer trails, I' d avoid walking on them if
at all possible. If you have to take deer runs to get
to your tree, maybe the stand should be moved to
a more accessible tree? Make no mistake, deer
will smell your ground scent, especially mature
does and bucks. Showering, carbon suits, and scent-
killer spray all help reduce human scent, but will not
eliminate it.

I agree with wimp. I cross trails as well, and have had deer come in on those trails. As long as you are scent free as possible (cover scent, scent eliminator...),I think you will be fine

RE: need advise about going to stand but got to cross deer trails
After watching a big, mature 9 point walk down the same trail I' d used a little earlier, I was convinced that rubber boots were the answer to ground scent. However, I watched my young German Shepherd dog track me to my stand last year by sniffing his way along directly to the base of my tree. I wasn' t as happy to see him as he was to see me . . . nor were the 10 deer he spooked [][:@]
If he could smell me, the deer probably can as well.
