Wow, that is an awesome bull!! That rack is deffinatley a lot darker than I am used to seeing. It almost looks like it is black. If that was one of the Sattelite bulls I would love to see the Herd Bull!!
That makes my little guy look like a baby!!
Congrats on a beautiful bull.
I have always been told if you can get a second arrow into an elk, don' t hesitate!! But a third, wow you must have really had him excited!

IL_BOW_MAN,
The only trees in the area were burned last year so that might explain the black horns......He' s actually a little better elk than the picture show....his G2' s taped out at 17 1/2" .

Wow, 3 solid shots on the same animal.
I think, if I were out there at 30 yards and had slammed the first shot home, I' d be staining my pants brown wondering if this huge animal is going to kick my butt, or maybe just freeze, staring at him in awe.
Kudos to you on some great mental discipline during a close encounter.
Congrats!

CG all I can say is WOW!!! Thta was an awsome story and an awsome animal. I would give my left one to just hunt an Elk, little lone to stick one. My hat is off to you, I do not care if it is a white tail or a moose, the more you can put into them the better!
