Looking For help in purchasing a Bow
#12
What does the axel length have to do with the purchase i was looking at the PSE Brute X and from what i read looks like a nice strater bow and a great price. It is adjustable for draw lenght and all question they have AXEL-AXEL 31" Is this something i need to undestand before purchase or is it a number that only really matters once you get more advanced. like a M-16 is a nice rifle to qual on since it is bigger and a M-4 is harder becase it is a smaller rifle?

Smaller means faster and more manuverable in tight spots like blinds treestands or stalking through the brush. As long as you dont shoot fingers like me that size Axle to Axle wont effect anything your trying to do.

I would suggest you get your draw length measured, start off with low poundage bow and most of all get someone who KNOWS how to set up a bow set you up and paper tune your arrows and then get either a well seasoned archer who can help you with the basics or go to the local shooting range/club or go to an archery pro shop that has people on staff who can help you.
The only reason I say all this is you can either start off shooting with all the information and shoot good, or start off with trial and error and add some poor shooting habits and have unexplainable aiming issues (to you) show up.
I am guessing you will be hunting with your bow, and I have been hunting with a bow and arrow for over 35 years, shooting both indoor target and outdoor 3d for about 20 years. Have had lots of help throughout the years from several talented archers who have asked nothing other than to help.
Buying the bow you can hardly go wrong with any of the nationally known companies out there, longer the length axel to axel and the longer the brace height will give you the forgiving you will need as a new person to archery. 34+++ axel to axel and a 7+++ brace height is better for ease of aiming and shooting.
Good luck, and have FUN !!

Well went to the Archery shop today and picked up a pse rally I love it. Takes getting use to shooting a bow from a gun. Got my ass kicked by the string till he figured out myeasurment was off my a half inch on draw length. Super excited to start shooting with it. Going to call tomorrow And figure out we're I can shoot or if I have to go to a range. Some times I wish I was back in Nevada
