Default Arrow length question....

I went shooting with some freinds and noticed that my arrows are a couple inches longer than everybody else' s. They stick out an inch (shaft only) from the front of my bow(at full draw) .....so I figured I could have an inch cut off w/o a problem....right? Then I had a thought, I shoot a whisker biscuit rest, couldn' t I shorten the arrow up to a 1/2 inch in front of the rest (at full draw)? Thanks for the help.

You most certainly can, provided it doesn' t mess with your spine and cause the arrow to be to stiff for your set up. What arrows, what weight tip and what type fletch you flinging? How long are your current arrows? How much do you plan to cut? Also what draw length and weight as well as what bow are you shooting?

Right now my arrows are 30 1/2" long....GoldTip 5575. 29" draw length. Bow= Diamond Hornet @70 lbs. 100 grain spitfires. 3 4" vanes. I figured my arrows are an inch long (from the front of my bow) now....and the front of my " biscuit" is 2 1/2" from the front of the bow....that' s 3 1/2" ...maybe cut them back to 27 1/2" or 28" . What do you think, Rangeball?

How can you tell if shortening the arrows, will effect the spine? Will they shoot differently?

I think it depends on your draw weight and broad head weight.

Cut one or two and try them. If you get acceptable results, then there you go.

Even with cut-away risers I' ve kept my arrows a little longer to protect my hand if an arrow falls off the rest when shooting broadheads. With rests that keep the arrow captive I have no problem with chopping the arrows off to within a 1/2" of the rest.
