Default RE: does anybody know anything about steiner binocs?

Buck:

Ive got a pair of 8x30' s. They have been quite durable over the years. They compare quite well to other optics in their price range.

I' ve had some Steiners for about 10 years... They are durable and you will like them --until you try out some really good ones, such as Swarovskis, then you' ll rarely use them again. A huge difference in the the clairity and light gathering capability of the optics. I would suggest that you either save up until you can get some good binocs or go on Ebay and find some quality binocs at a good price. I would honestly say that I would trade down in most all of my hunting equipment before I gave up my Swarovskis. Believe me, when it comes to those last few minutes and you know there' s a big buck wandering in front of you, quality optics are worth every penny!

I used Steiners quite a bit in the military and never had a problem. We were always in the salt water and they held up. Not sure about their civilian offerings though. They were pretty heavy as I recall.
